Dernier Publishing Books for Teens

I thought it would be a good idea to give information about all our books in one place for easy reference - the next blog will be chick lit for 10-14s, then books for 8-11s. Firstly, here are our books for kids 12+:
The Only Way by Gareth Rowe
When a miserable, disaffected teenager meets the beautiful and mysterious Lily, he discovers a new way to live, the only way. Later, when Lily's life is in danger, he is willing to risk everything to save her, but time and circumstances are against him. How can he live, if she doesn't survive? A brilliantly-written story of hope for young people.
This really is a great story with a subtle message - perfect to give to young people who have no church background and who may never have thought about God in their lives. This is a book to sow seeds. Also great for church kids who could do with a bit of encouragement that Jesus is not just for the middle classes! Who could you buy it for?
Here are some reviews: “The girl is mysterious and it's good that you don't know much about her. The boy has quite a hard life; I liked the bit where he had to live off the land. The Christian side of the book is subtle; I think it would be helpful to someone who is unsure about their faith. This is a very good book with some exciting moments.” - George

“I enjoyed this book and it was an interesting read because the author made really exciting things happen.” - Naomi

“The Only Way hooked me straight away . . . Brilliant and funny writing.” - Jackie Kay MBE, Professor of Creative Writing, Newcastle University

Plus a review from G P Taylor, New York Times best-selling author of Shadowmancer: “The Only Way is a moving, fast paced, gripping and genius piece of writing. A 'must read' for everyone.”

London's Gone by J. M. Evans

London has been bombed by terrorists. Maria watched in horror as the smoke rose from the direction of London. Now she must make a hazardous journey to safety with her sister and a Christian friend, but is anywhere safe now? For Maria, the journey is also inside herself as she begins to discover a side to life that she did not know existed. A thrilling drama full of suspense.

This books is kind of topical - after the bombing there are riots, which spread from London out to other large cities and surrounding areas. Have you read it? It's for teens, but you might find it challenging too. Equally suitable for kids with no previous knowledge  of God and for Christian young people. Non-threatening and low cringe factor!

Some reviews: “I just couldn't put this book down!” - Jilly

“Very exciting, full of atmosphere.” - Eleanor

“Scary, because it could actually happen.” - Laura

“I found the story very tense and compelling.” - Sandy
